Friends,
Will you stand with me this Tuesday night as I advocate for progress and push back against the chaos?
No matter where you live, if you’re able, please join me at:
📍 Cape Girardeau City Council Meeting
📅 Tuesday, February 18, 5:00 PM (note the unusual date)
📍 City Council Chambers, 44 N. Lorimier St.
I will be presenting a proposal for a crucial federal grant opportunity that could provide much-needed funding to repair, maintain, and expand Cape Girardeau’s water distribution system. This funding is real and attainable, but too often, important opportunities like this get buried beneath the distractions coming from Washington, D.C., and Jefferson City. We can’t let that happen.
Your presence would make a huge impact! But even if you can’t attend, your support means the world.
If you’re on the fence, let me address a few concerns:
✅ “I can’t get there by 5:00 PM.” No problem! Arrive anytime between 5:00 and 6:00 PM—just come when you can.
✅ “I can’t stay for the whole meeting.” That’s fine! Even a short visit shows support.
✅ “I’m not sure I agree with your plan.” No pressure! Just come, listen, and form your own opinion.
✅ “Won’t the meeting be too long?” The agenda suggests a fairly short session—arriving by 5:30 and staying for about 30 minutes should be plenty.
✅ “Will there be long speeches?” Speakers are limited to 3 minutes, and I’ll keep my remarks brief and to the point.
After the meeting, join us for an informal gathering:
🍻 Politics at the Pub
📍 Minglewood Brewery
⏰ 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM (or later)
(This is not a sponsored event—grab what you’d like on your own tab!)
Together, we can advocate for real change and ensure our city takes advantage of this opportunity. I hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Andy Leighton
