Rules

Eligibility: Open to students: 13-18 years old

  Participants must be residents of Cape Girardeau County

Only one entry per participant is allowed.

Essay Guidelines: Essay must be original, unpublished, and written solely by the   participant.

Word count: Minimum of 250 and Maximum 500 words.

Topic: Essays should reflect the significance of Juneteenth, its historical impact,      and its relevance today. Perspectives of freedom and equality.

Essays must be written in English and formatted as follows:

Typed, double-spaced

12 Point font (Times New Roman or Arial)

1-inch margins

Submission Rules: Submissions should include a cover page with:

Participant’s name, Age, Grade level and Contact information email and phone number.

Entries must be submitted by May 31, 2025,
