Urban Voices is looking for citizen journalists to help share the stories that matter most in communities across Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois. This is an opportunity to highlight news, events, and issues that mainstream media often overlook—especially those relevant to the Black community.

Citizen journalists play a vital role in amplifying local voices, celebrating achievements, and addressing challenges that deserve attention. Whether it’s covering important events, recognizing community contributions, or sharing firsthand perspectives, this work can inform, inspire, and bring people together. As a voice within the Black community, you would be able to reflect its perspectives, celebrate accomplishments, and address issues that resonate deeply with residents in your area.

Citizen journalism allows you to bring attention to stories that matter, offer firsthand insights, and share with our communities the news and experiences that bring us closer together.

In this role, you would be covering events and issues you find significant in your city, of interest to the Black community, As a voice within the Black community, you would be able to reflect its perspectives, celebrate accomplishments, and address issues that resonate deeply with residents in of our area.
