Cape Girardeau Regional Airport Welcomes New Leadership

Less than a week after Amos announced her departure, the city has already named her successor. Cape Girardeau City Manager Dr. Kenneth Haskin announced that JoJo Stuart, a seasoned professional with extensive experience in aviation, firefighting, and emergency management, will be taking over as the new airport manager.

Stuart brings over seven years of experience in airport operations management and 16 years with the Cape Girardeau Fire Department, most recently serving as Fire Captain and Assistant Emergency Management Director. Stuart will work closely with Amos until her departure on September 13 to ensure a smooth transition.

Stuart, who has spent the last four years as a captain in the Cape Fire Department, expressed excitement about his new role. “It’s been a whirlwind,” Stuart said, reflecting on his appointment. “I bring an outside perspective from my experience at much larger airports back East. My goal is to build on what Katrina has accomplished and continue to grow this airport to its full potential.”

Dr. Haskin expressed confidence in Stuart’s ability to lead the airport forward. “Bringing JoJo in on the heels of Katrina’s tenure, I think he’s going to do nothing but enhance the airport’s trajectory,” Haskin said. “The community should look forward to a high-energy leader in JoJo, who will actively promote the airport and explore opportunities for growth, including the possibility of securing an additional airline.”

As Stuart steps into his new role, he aims to build on the solid foundation laid by Amos, continuing the momentum of recent successes. “My heart’s there for the city, and my goal is to make things better,” said Stuart.
