Alexander/Pulaski Counties NAACP to Host Martin Luther King Breakfast

Pulaski, IL – The Alexander/Pulaski Counties NAACP is set to host its annual Martin Luther King Breakfast on January 20, 2025, at Meridian High School, 1401 Mounds Road, Mounds, IL. The event will commence at 9 a.m. and promises to be a memorable occasion filled with inspiration, music, and community recognition.

The highlight of the breakfast will be a keynote address by Father Joseph Brown, a distinguished professor of African American Studies at Southern Illinois University. Professor Brown is renowned for his insightful perspectives on social justice and civil rights, making him an ideal speaker for this event that honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In addition to the keynote speech, attendees will be treated to a musical performance by Evangelist Dollette Jones that is sure to uplift and entertain. The event will also recognize four local businesses/individuals for their contributions to the community, showcasing the spirit of collaboration and support that defines the region.

This breakfast serves as a fundraiser for scholarships aimed at graduating seniors from high schools in Alexander and Pulaski counties. The scholarships will provide much-needed financial assistance to students pursuing higher education, ensuring that the next generation of leaders has the opportunity to succeed.
